Good news, small brave things, and a tip for the week.

Tip of the week

One good thing near you, and how to get the most from it.

The Waggon Sauna: a timber waggon with big windows, in a clearing in the woods at the Hampton Estate
Elenid Coleman
Treat yourself this winter

Meet Elenid, and the Waggon Sauna

From textile designer to sauna host, Elenid Coleman curates a thoughtfully designed experience: a wood-fired sauna in a waggon on a woodland walk at the Hampton Estate, Seale. It has a huge window onto the trees, and bucket and woodland showers to cool off. The waggon was built from Hampton's own timber.

Tips from Kev & Jules, we've been and it was rather lovely

  • Go with friends. The Trailblazer pass works out at about £16 a session instead of £20.
  • Make it a gathering. A private session fits about ten. That's our sauna sing-along idea: sweat, sing badly, feel brilliant.
  • Like it hot? Take the corner seat. Then the bucket. Then do it again.
  • Times change with the seasons. Check the booking page before you go.

Good news

Short, real, with faces. Every story ends in something you can do.

Good human · Godalming

Ilona, the VA putting an engine under local business

After ten years as a PA, Ilona went her own way. She walked into pretty much every shop in Godalming, said what she was doing, and was fully booked within a month. Now she's the flexible right hand for small businesses round here, and she joins the dots between them. She's just been on the Trinkfluss Wines podcast with Bastian and Matteo from Take One Studio.

Small brave thing · Milford

A £10 pump and a bath's worth of water for the garden

Reiks spent a tenner on a little pump. In summer, the bath water goes into a tank instead of down the drain, and waters the garden. No several-grand system needed.

Your turn: what's one small thing you've done, or could do this month?
This Saturday · Shackleford

From the briefing to the farm

A film, a proper conversation about where we're all at, then down to Norney Farm Bungalow to see solar, rain harvesting and regenerative growing working together.

How it started · Godalming

Three men, Monday nights, one question

Good food, big conversations, and the question we always ask: how have we been better this week? Now we're opening the door, starting with a pub night and a walk.
